Our team are experienced, dedicated aged care professionals with a warm, friendly and helpful nature. Our Team

David Cotter – Chief Executive Officer

David is an experienced, people focused, strategic CEO with a wealth of experience in the aged care and community not-for-profit sector. David leads the Nazareth Care Australasia region. David is a highly motivated and committed individual, who is dedicated to excellence in all aspects of life. David has over 30 years’ health and aged care experience in Australia.

Simon Lane – General Manager Corporate Services

Simon an experienced strategic, high performer leads the Regional Support Services team ensuring the customer service centred team supports the Houses by delivering timely and quality services. Simon has a wealth of experience in the aged care and community sectors. Simon has great strength in managing people, process and change to enhance efficiencies and improve profitability.

Tanya Barun – General Manager Operations

Tanya has a wealth of experience in health care, including hospitals and aged care. Tanya leads the Australian Houses’ operations and is passionate about providing high standard resident centred care services in collaboration with the Facility Managers team. Tanya is a sound commercial operator supporting clinical governance, ensuring regulatory framework compliance, whilst driving strategic direction and change. Tanya is a committed and passionate leader with a strong set of values, including social justice.

Ricky Relouw – General Manager Compliance & Risk

Ricky has a wealth of experience in Quality, Compliance and Risk having worked at small to large health organisations. Ricky leads the Quality team in the houses, ensuring Clinical governance and a high-quality resident-centred focus. Ricky brings a unique skillset ensuring and supporting our Houses to meet compliance and reduce risk by implementing clinical policies and legislative frameworks.

Desiree Doherty – Human Resources Manager

Desiree is an experienced HR professional who is people centred and passionate about culture and change management. Desiree utilises her HR management and vast industry knowledge to foster the best within her team and is instrumental in promoting Nazareth Care core values and strong culture across the organisation. Desiree is passionate about supporting managers to enable high performing teams whilst ensuring organisational risk is mitigated.

Each House has a Facility Manager and Sister Superior who work together to lead and support the House.

Ballarat: Jarrah Tuoro (Facility Manager) and Sister Ana Robertson (Sister Superior)
Camberwell: Jenny Emmanoulidis (Facility Manager) and Sister Lusila Tautunu (Sister Superior)
Geraldton: Mia Jebi (Facility Manager) and Sister Sesilia Ioane (Sister Superior)
Tamworth: Allison Groth (Facility Manager) and Sister Teresa Clare (Sister Superior)
Wynnum: Joanne Bartley (Facility Manager) and Sister Mary Monaghan (Sister Superior)

Sister Margaret O’Keefe – Chair

Sister Margaret is a Religious Sister of the Congregation of the Sisters of Nazareth and was appointed Regional Superior and Chair of the Board on 7th October 2016. Previously, Sister Margaret was Sister Superior and Director of Mission for Nazareth House Camberwell. Qualified with a Diploma in Education, Sister Margaret was on staff at Larmenier School in Tasmania and Our Lady of Mount Carmel School in Perth, WA. Sister Margaret has held many roles in education, as a professional teacher, religious education co-ordinator and school principal. Her responsibilities have also included membership on the Catholic Education panel for the employment of school principals and the Block Grant Authority managing grants for capital works. Sister Margaret has also studied in Rome, Italy, undertaking a course in Formation which led to the role of Formation Director for ten years.

Sister Teresa Clare Nguyen – Board Member

Inspired by Mission and Vision of the Sisters of Nazareth, Sister Teresa joined the Congregation in 1993. Sister Teresa is the Vocation Director for the Australasian Region. She holds a Bachelor of Theology, majoring in Moral and Practical Theology. She has also completed Certificates in Aged Care, Podiatry Assistant, Leisure and Health and Volunteers Program Coordination. Sister Teresa Clare is currently Sister Superior and Mission Director of Tamworth Community. Sister Teresa Clare was appointed to the Board on 22 November 2019.

Sister Mary Monaghan – Board Member

Sister Mary is a Sister of the Congregation of the Sisters of Nazareth and was appointed as a Director and Trustee of the Board on 18 December 2019.

Sister Mary spent many years in education. Her appointments included being a classroom teacher at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Primary School in Perth, WA, and principal of St Lawrence’s Primary School Bluff Point WA. During her time in Western Australia, Sister Mary was a member of the School Resources Committee of the Catholic Education Commission of Western Australia.

After holding the positions of Superior and Administrator in Nazareth Houses in Camberwell, North Turramurra and Tamworth, Sister Mary was elected Superior General of the Congregation of the Sisters of Nazareth in 2006. She held this position until 2018 and was based in London. Sister Mary is currently Superior of Nazareth House, Wynnum, Queensland.

Sister Marie Townsend – Board Member

Sister Marie Townsend is a Religious Sister of the Congregation of the Sisters of Nazareth and was appointed Regional Councillor and Board Director on October 17, 2019. Sister has spent her life in education at every level in the Primary sector where her leadership skills and expertise inspired our young to excellence.

Sister Lusila Tautunu – Board Member

Sister Lusila is a Religious Sister of the Congregation of the Sisters of Nazareth and was appointed 1st Regional Councillor and Sister Superior for Nazareth House Camberwell on October 7, 2019. Qualified with a Diploma of Business Administration, Sister Lusila has experience in Accounts Payable and Receivable, Bank Reconciliation and General administration duties. She was working for the Regional Support Services (RSS) in Quality department as Documentation Administrator assisting in implementing IT systems and managing the designing, formatting and uploading of documents on Nazareth Care Intranet. In 2018, Sister Lusila did a Formator Course in Sydney which led to her appointment to assist in formation programme for the young women discerning their vocations to the Sisters of Nazareth in South Africa. Sister Lusila was appointed to the Board on 7th October 2019.

Patrick Herd – Board Member

Patrick is Managing Director and Principal Consultant at Community Business Australia, a specialist consulting firm working with Charitable and ‘For Purpose’ community organisations across Australia. Patrick has over 25 years of senior management positions and consulting expertise in the employment, education, aged care, disability and community sectors. His expertise encompasses strategic and business planning, effective governance, collaborative partnerships and alliances and coaching of Boards and CEOs. Patrick has a Diploma of Teaching and Bachelor of Education. He is an Associate Fellow of Institute of Managers and Leaders and a member with the Australian Institute of Company Directors (MAICD). Patrick Herd joined the Board 17 May 2019.

Michael Penhey – Board Member

Michael has been the CEO of Crowley Care in Ballina for 20 years. And during that time he has transformed the organisation into a leading, award winning aged care provider with a unique spirit and culture.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting), a Graduate Certificate in Finance and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Michael is also passionate about governance and ensuring boards are contemporary in their practice. He has served on a number of boards in the aged care, health and education industries, including the role of Chair of Trinity Catholic College in Lismore. Michael was appointed to the Board on 28 February 2020.

Marion Eades – Board Member

Marion Eades is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand and holds a B.Sc and B.Com from Auckland University and an MBA (with Distinction) from Massey University. She has held senior roles in finance and corporate services in the New Zealand and Australian public services and with the Commonwealth Secretariat based in London. Her current governance roles include Deputy Chair and Chair of the Risk and Audit Committee of the Institute of Environmental Science and Research Ltd, Member of the Real Estate Agents Authority, and Board member, St John of God Hauora Trust. Previous roles include Chair of the Independent Oversight Advisory Committee at the World Health Organisation, Deputy Chair Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority and Director, Co-operative Bank. In addition, Marion provides governance support to a small number of not-for profit organisations within the community.
